Honey's Housacy Challenge Chapter1, Part 9

Welcome to Champs Les Sims! It's the base camp here in this picture. It's situated in France and that's where Lief and Agnes are having their honeymoon right now. The bedrooms and bathrooms are upstairs while downstairs is a communal kitchen with dining area and a lounge to relax in.

Agnes and Lief excitedly dash to their room and look all around. Agnes has a wee bit of trouble getting her dresser drawer open to put her clothes away and lands promptly on her bottom. Oof! That must be one stiff drawer. It reminds me of the set I have in my room. You have to fight to get them open and fight to get them closed. XD There's a certain 'trick' to each drawer.

Agnes: "You don't say! All I wanted was a pair of socks"

Meanwhile, Lief is off following up a task he got from the notice board outside the boarding house. He's gone to talk to the man who posted it. Apparently, this man who I forget the name of has lost something in the tombs beneath the ancient ruins outside of town. This man happens to run the shop that sells camping and adventuring gear. How useful. After getting the information we need for this quest, we bought some tents, shower in a can's and some foodlike objects for when my Sims get hunger pangs on their adventures.

Lief: "Hmm, I wonder if Agnes is the adventuresome type. This quest sounds intriguing!"

Yup, this is definitely the camping-adventuring shop. See? It's got everything you need. Even some nice pot plants in case there's not nice enough greenery where you're going.

Since Agnes is resting off some jet-lag back at the hotel, Lief sets out to the ruins alone. He's not the only tourist to find them interesting, I see. Or maybe that's a gardener in the lower left corner.

Having made it to the mysterious ruins, we find a small trapdoor and Lief bravely follows it underground. He stops, taking in the surroundings.

Lief: "This looks like a dead end. This seems way too easy. I better start looking around"

Hmm, how about the suspicious pile of rubble against the wall over there?

Lief managed to clear all the rubble from the door with a pickaxe he pulled from thin air. This wall looks different from the rest. It must be a hidden door, surely. Come on my good Sim, I know you can figure it out!

Lief: "Why don't I try pushing it? Or maybe one of these bricks is a switch..."

That's the way. We'll be through in a jiffy. I just hope there's nothing scary waiting on the other side.

Lief made it through to the next room! He stands on the square panel on the floor and sparkles appear on the tomb's door. I think he's cracked this one too.

But in the next room, there's a number of options available. A pile of rubble, a panel on the floor and a hole in the wall. Which one should we do first?

Lief seems eager to dig up the rubble pile, so out comes that pickaxe again. I wish I had an invisible storage space for all my stuff. It would be amazingly convenient and make it so much easier to keep the house organised. :D

Lief: "Uhh, will something bad happen to me if I take this?"

I have no idea. There's only one way to find out. If we go by most adventure movies, the answer is yes but this is a Sims world. Rules are different here.

Lief: "Oh, that's comforting! So shiny...must...take"

Hey, nothing happened! o_o This tomb's not very well guarded, is it? I don't know whether to be happy or disappointed. Lol.

Lief: "I'm happy. Very happy! That pile of glittery things was a bunch of ancient coins. And I'm still alive. Alright, I feel a boost of confidence. If it's that easy then this hole in the wall should be perfectly safe"

Lief doesn't have the highest logic skills, if you can't tell.

Lief: "Auuughhh! Get 'em off, get 'em off!"

Yuck! Hopefully none of those creepy crawlies are venomous or flesh eating types. That's what you get for sticking your arm in strange holes in the wall.

Lief has recovered from his gross out attack after the bug scare and is busy chipping away at another rubble pile when who should come along but Agnes McLear, looking entirely out of place in her heels and nice clothing.

Agnes: "Who says you can't adventure wearing heels? Hello honey, mind if I join you?"

Ohh how fitting. It's a heart stone, right when the lovers are reunited in this chamber. I think that must go in the similar shaped hole in the wall near the door.

Agnes is joining the search for the man's lost item as well. She starts feeling around for a secret door.

Meantime, Lief puts the heart stone into the slot. It starts to glow...hopefully that's a good sign. I keep waiting for a monster or something to pop out.

But there's no monsters down here. It's just another chamber, filled with scary statues. Agnes and Lief aren't ready to give up yet, though. They continue down this corridor and into the next room.

That's the way! Agnes has figured out a way to keep the switch pressed down so the door will stay open. She must be a strong woman to be able to push that thing around! Or maybe these statues are hollow inside.

After pushing around statues, exploring some more and finding secrets all over the place, Lief and Agnes are nearly asleep on their feet, so it's time to pull out the tent. Two Sims fit easily inside for a good night's sleep.

I forgot to mention, we only have three days here in Champs Les Sims. The next morning after a few showers in a can and a nibble of some of their food rations, the pair continues the quest. A hidden staircase is revealed, leading further into the depths.

Agnes and Lief followed the stairs down to a room with a quite impressive mini hedge maze. And a gravestone or two. They looked at each other, wondering whether to go on. It could be dangerous. Something could come out of the tomb or up from beneath the ground.

Lief:"Let's go on together. You explore that area and I'll investigate the grave"

Agnes: "Good idea. I think we can solve this if we help each other"

Lief mourned for the poor soul whose monument marked the centre of the maze. Astonishingly, a hole appeared! I sent him straight away to stick his arm in it...and he got some treasure. Thank goodness it wasn't a trap.

Agnes finds another of the pointy eared statues to move onto a door switch. She starts pulling it around the room.

Agnes: "These statues sure look funny. I think it would make a good Halloween costume"

Are they supposed to be gargoyles or elves? It's sort of hard to tell.

And Lief finds, well, a room full of treasure and another adventurer who never made it out. I wonder what happened to them? Lief, you had better be careful in here.

They figured out how to unlock the last door. There goes the gold sparkles. Where will it lead to next?

At last, the final room. A shower of magical lights is radiating all around that bottle of nectar on the stand. There are so many gravestones down here. What could have happened to the Sims who went before? Or maybe that's just because this is a tomb and they're buried here because they're supposed to be. Lol.

Lief: "Oh look, there's another one of those holes in the floor"

But first, it's time to pay respects to those who rest in the tomb. Lief takes a moment to read and weep over as many as he can.

And since there are a lot of them, Agnes helps.

Agnes: "I don't know who you all are, but I'm sorry I never got to meet you. Sorry for snooping around your resting place, I do hope you'll forgive us - it's just so entertaining" *sniff sniff*

Lief: "Ooh, I found something! It's that man's treasure we were looking for! It's...it's...a baseball?"

Yup, it really was a baseball. I don't know why there's pretty lights all around the pedestal of nectar then. Maybe it's magical nectar.

Speaking of sticking our arms in holes, Lief has another scare.

Lief: "Bugs! Argh!"

While that can't be exactly nice, I don't know what's so scary about them...they don't seem to do much of anything except crawl around.

Lief: "Trust me, that's enough"

Ah well, I am a bit sorry we didn't run into any monsters or bandits but this isn't an mmorpg after all. And I do need my Sims to come back home alive. Agnes and Lief had better head back to town and hand in what they found.

Lief: "But not before taking this nectar. Ha ha!"

Agnes: "And not before one last look around. I almost like this statue, isn't it endearing?"

Is that a dog or a rabbit? The statues in here certainly keep one guessing. It'd be fun if it came to life and made a nice pet.

Saying goodbyes to the underground tombs, Lief heads off into town to hand in the baseball while Agnes snoops around the ruins a bit. She digs up a few bits and pieces as the sun begins to set.

And then travels back in style through the rolling green countryside. I have no idea when she rented that.

The happy couple received their reward and the man was glad to receive his lucky baseball back. The two adventurers are pretty hungry after that quest, so Agnes and Lief make dinner.

It's a cook-off to see who can make their autumn salad the fastest. Agnes appears to be in the lead, while Lief chops away steadily at the vegetables.

Mixing the ingredients comes next. It's a close tie but Agnes is the winner. Looks like the timing is based on a first come, first serve deal. And she was first to the fridge.

After their meal of the rainbow salads, which both tasted great although Agnes has the higher cooking skill, they go to sleep for their last night of the honeymoon in Champs Les Sims. Tomorrow is sadly the last day. Lief wears his new pyjamas to bed. Agnes is already out like a light. They'll need their rest for the journey home.

The last morning brings a sunny day and Lief and Agnes decide to spend it relaxing. They visit a nice café, where they can chat and look at the scenery. It's not like the café back at home, they discover, after waiting outside for someone to serve them and no one appears.

So they go inside and there is the waiter (who seems to double as chef). They place their orders and go to their tables with them. It's not quite the hospitality I'd expected but then, this isn't a restaurant in 'The Sims'. Nevertheless, Agnes and Lief get something nice to eat.

Lief has the cobbler while Agnes has...well, I'm not sure. Some kind of pie, maybe?

Then it's off for a visit to the nectary. Agnes has been wishing to go since they arrived. I love the blue and yellow flower arrangement in the gardens and the pretty windows on the building.

Agnes: "Oh, these all look really nice. We must purchase some before we leave today"

There's a range of different nectars to buy at the nectary. There's no time to learn how to make some, so for today, this will do. I am sure they are all very nice.

Lief, however, gets to try the nectar in a whole different way - he was tasting some of it and then he found this - a dive well full of nectar! Lief, I don't think you're supposed to be doing that.

Lief: "Mm, this smells amazing. I wonder if this is grape flavoured?"

So in he went for a dive and came up with some happy memories, and drenched in sticky nectar. Ah, what a fun trip! Now get out of there before someone sees you. They probably have to clean the whole pool because of that. Lol.
